Election Posters

Pixelated photos of political campaign posters and flyers that blanket entire walls in the Philippines during election season.

Each candidate compete for visibility but end up being ignored by the masses on the streets because the posters are ubiquitous. They become ugly wallpapers plastered on the urban landscape; a visual version of background noise.

So, I decided to make them easier on the eyes. The other reason why I chose to pixelate the walls of posters is because—while each face and color scheme is unique—all of the politicians promise the same things in scripted campaign speeches, and they eventually break those same promises.

Like pixels, they are reduced to blank, faceless color codes that don’t convey any real information. Just as politicians see voters as faceless numbers they try to corral during election day, likewise, the people only see a multi-chromatic band of blur.
